The Gabriola Radio Society (GRS) will host the 2010 National Community Radio Conference here on Gabriola Island, Ken Zakreski, president and developer of GRS told the Shingle in a Jan. 26 interview.
Green Party leader Elizabeth May has accepted an invitation to be on the event’s journalism panel Zakreski added.
Zakreski said that broadcasters from across Canada will be in attendance, as will officials from the CRTC, Heritage and Industry Canada. He did not know if any MPs from other political parties would be there.
Zakreski said GRS is looking for volunteers to help with the conference, which will be held June 7 to 11 at Camp Miriam.
