Dear Editor,
Twenty years ago this March, Shaw cable was hooked up to Gabriola Island, and the first program ('The Last Pole') produced here was recorded. It consisted of several interviews of local citizens at a familiar stop sign at the top of the ferry hill.
This March, at my behest, Shaw will produce another (shorter) anniversary program, but unfortunately they claim they cannot find the original program in their archives. Since it would be great to have some of the old footage, I am hoping to track down a recording made by some devoted (and very organized) islander who may still have a copy. It may be a long shot, but could you please assist me in finding that rare tape (even though I produced and hosted the original show, I didn't have a vcr to record it on, and Shaw failed to give me a copy)?
Please contact Derek Johnstone ( derekis@shaw.ca) OR Rick Mitchell (rickmit@shaw.ca) 247-9906 if you can help.
Thanks
Rick Mitchell
